Session Flow and Facilitating
In Chapter 6, we presented many artifacts that come with research: welcome kits, discussion guides, consent forms, and honorariums. In this section we will discuss how these are used in the context of research. While these are written in the context of moderated qualitative methods, many remote practices and quantitative research that requires active participant engagement (such as diary studies) may also require these tools.
Address the Formalities First
Shortly after a participant is shown to a research lab, or the research team arrives at their destination, the consent forms and honorariums should be addressed. While this seems draconian, getting these out of the way addresses any legal implications and sets a formal tone.
